Take chances. I switched my major 5 times just to prove to myself that it was really what I wanted to do...and I still graduated in 4 years.
Don't judge. My best friends in college were girls I would have never been friends with (or talked to) in high school. It's what they're like on the inside that matters most.
Go Greek! The bonds you'll form with your pledge class will last a lifetime. I'm not sure if you'll realize how true it is until you graduate from college.
Befriend your professors. When you need a recommendation, a job, or advice, they're the ones who will be able to get you what you need.
Have fun. You'll only be an undergraduate once. Live life to its fullest, but don't get get arrested for having too much fun (it'll now go on your permanent record).
It's so tempting to forget why you came to college in the first place and get distracted by parties, events, groups of people who really don't have your best interest in mind. Try to keep the bigger picture in mind. Use college to find your passions and find nice, fun people who are passionate about the same thing. Take advantage of your professors and any professionals who are involved in your program to get the larger picture of your industry. Life is way bigger than what it feels like at college
And yes, go to class. Always. Professors use that "participation" grade arbitrarily and if you show up consistently, you'll do way better.

Take advantage of the opportunities that are available. Get involved in groups/organizations. As in all things in life everything in moderation... which means enjoying the occasional party.

Me three--go to class and take good notes. It's way easier to study for tests from your notes. Also, wear sandals in the shower.

I am repeating others, but the key to doing well, is sooo simple. Sit in the FRONT and don't ever skip a class. Your instructor will KNOW you. That in itself is golden!

Hunker down. Don't drink. Don't party. You're in training for bigger and better things. Do well now and it will give you a leg up on the competition once you get out. You can party later.

Dont make journalism your major

Sit in the front of the class, get to know your professors...they are there to help you.
GO to CLASS. There are a couple of classes that I would have done much better in had I taken the class seriously.
You've got plenty of years to party, save some of it for when you are older:-)

No matter how hard it is to get up or how good the excuse is you give yourself for not needing to go to class that day - DO IT, GO TO CLASS! Skipping is a bad habit to get into and really easy to fall into.

Call your parents every day :o) Also, nothing sinks in the night before a test; always try to study at least three days in advance.

Go to class, study hard, and NEVER, EVER spill the bong water.

Liquor before beer...never fear....
Seriously...enjoy. Don't rush through (sorry mom & dad). Take your time. Don't go to work after graduation. Travel. Live far away every now and then so when it matters, you want to come home.

One, definitely, GO to CLASS. An hour listening carefully in class beats three trying to cram out of a book. Two, you'll love the "free time" compared with high school. Use it to study earlier in the day rather than later. Three, don't judge college by your first semester. The rest will be nothing like it. They'll probably be a lot better.

Four, call your mother.
