on the road again - today's goal Auburn, MA - about 50 minutes outside of boston. jake was supposed to do an essay on a book for english, and email it to his teacher. he 'misunderstood' the assignment, and had to do it twice!! rocky start to the day. but he got it done, and everybody's excited to see boston. but first, we get to drive through new york. at 4:30. bad timing. lots of traffic but lots of great views of the city too, had fun trying to snap pics out the window of a moving car with everybody yelling out landmarks to shoot. looking forward to getting to boston and seeing emerson.

jake-a-palooza Day 5

Deanna! I have been thinking about your blog and wondering if I could find it again and then I was looking for "sendtoprint.net" good old Paige Peterson and your blog address came up YEA! This blog is brilliant. I think you should use it as a professional resume for your wonderful writing style. I am being serious, it is really good.
I wanted to share a college trip story. DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana has popped up on the radar screen. I was out actively looking for Division III schools with what looked to be an approachable tennis program. I made some calls a couple of months ago, we met with the Iowa Admissions person etc. The only thing missing was the visit. With basketball starting for Peter and Mike coaching one of his 3 teams, (yep you heard it right, 3) the weekends to go visit were almost non-exsistent. So late last week we decided to leave Sunday afternoon, visit Monday and be home by Monday night. Let me start by saying we don't have nearly as much fun on our college trips as the Edward's do. Ours is more like a prison transport opportunity. Get in the car, shut up, stop when the driver (Mike) wants to and make it there as fast as possible. As we pulled into Galesburg which is about 1/2 way there, Ellie finally speaks after watching the entire Gossip Girl library on DVD and she says sheI doesn't feel good...opens the car window and pukes! And proceeds to do it a couple of more times. I am thinking oh s___ we are in the middle of nowhere and this kid has the flu...it turned out to be car sickness. We pull into Greencastle Indiana at 11:45pm which is actually 12:45am. I sleep about an hour forty five and we get to DePauw by 8:15am. The school is wonderful, the facilities will leave you breathless ALL GOOD. Tuition is a little steep, hopefully their endowment will kick in. We jump back in the car and are home by 8PM. The next day I am creeking around the office and someone asked why I was so sore and I told them that I had run the DePauw Marathon the day before. They looked at me funny and said, "I didn't know Depauw had a marathon, I've never heard of it" I told them it was 920 miles in 28 hours! My body was physically sore.
I also want to tell you I have had a couple of choked up instances too. It is really weird and the littlest thing can set it off, like right now while I am typing this comment...weird.
I think it is great that you guys are doing your search all together and having so much fun, ours has been slightly more stressful. Either Ellie is not nearly as much fun to be around as Jake, that is a given, or we are all wound way too tight, probably a given too!
Take care,
Megan
